New Dog Park

On our daily walk aroung the apartment complex, I noticed posts in the ground surrounding the grassy area, the beginnings of a little fenced in dog park, without the chainlink going around. We were there for a minute before ice, a good lookin' blue pit, came out with his daddy. Ice's brother, Buddha, also lives in the apartment complex, and is also a good lookin boy. Buddha's dad had him neutered early, while Ice's dad just told me today that he wants to breed him with "a rednose pit" that belongs to some girl he knows. i tried to explain to him that even if he did find great homes for all the puppies, those puppies will live a long time, and the odds of those pits staying in those great homes are so very slim - one, if not more of them will most likely be put down. there's no reason to breed even the most well-mannered of pits, not when there are so many being killed every day in columbus. Anyway, i don't think i was able to disuade him, but Ramsey and Ice were able to rough-house for a good while. Buddha and ice are both still puppies, only like 5-6 months old(?) and they both play very well with Ramsey. Ramsey, for some reason, will rough-house with these boys, but many other dogs. Here's ice with his nose in ramsey's butthole, and a close-up of ice...

facebook

Well, it seems this animal welfare thing is consuming my life. I put this image as my fb photo, and it seems like every post i have has to do with rescue, or humane treatment, or animals in general, and i'm thinking i might as well bite the bullet and just jump into this bigdogbadrep thing. I have some artwork that i'm looking to create. Paintings using the photos i've taken. Of ramsey to start, but other animals too. I need some extra income... heh, thats the understatement of the year.

one hot freakin day!

INTRODUCING...Ramsey's friend, Debo!

Debo is a sweet old man. My friend gets upset when we talk about how old he's looking... but he's a very good boy and lives with two kids. Great example of the pit bull breed. :)

You can see from the pictures, these were some hot dogs, and it was one hot freakin day! There's no reason why it should be this freakin hot, seriously. And humid. The dogs were hot, but they had plenty of water and we splashed their bellys. There was actually a pretty decent breeze some of the time. Ugh, not enough lot of the time.

Debo and Ramsey just met last week, at Debo's house. They took a walk around the block together then settled down inside for a while, then hung out in the backyard. I love my big dog. Sometimes he's so easy-going. Not all the time... But he's a good dog. Not interested in proving anything, letting other dogs hump him and knock him down - Sometimes i wonder if he knows how big he is. I think i just figured he doesn't, but maybe he does... like does he really think he gets stuck in places and can't maneuver out of them? He's just being stubborn and wants me to THINK that he thinks he can't, so that it's ok for him to be there. He isn't fooling anybody though, Joe and I both saw him jump over the corner of our two couches pushed together all nimbly bimbly like. I seeendt it.

Barf Breath

So the other day i was sitting in our living room watching TV just hanging out with the pets. I heard that nasty pukey sound that cats make right before they vomit, and sure enough i look over at Cash, just as he pukes over the backside of the couch. I get up to assess the damage and as i peer over the back of the couch, there lies Ramsey, with (quite a large amount of) cat puke all across his back and side. I thought to myself "What an asshole!" referring to Cash, puking on my dog! Ramsey, however, thought it was a nice little treat, and quickly started cleaning it up. I considered getting up to grab a paper towel, but if I did, Ramsey would certainly get up to follow me, spilling the cat puke all over the floor! so instead... i quietly sat back down and let Ramsey clean up the mess. lol

Cash & Potato

Ramsey was very patriotic this weekend.

All three of the boys (Ramsey, and our two male orange tabbies, Potato and Cash) had a nice little photo shoot yesterday.

This is Potato. 2 months after marrying my husband, we went to the Muscogee County Humane Society and i picked out a crazy little orange tabby kitten. I also put in a job application and started working there soon after. We adopted him before buying ourselves a bed, and when Potato was still a kitten, he would RUN across our FACES as we slept on our air mattress... which he later popped. Potato is now a fat little fucker, always shitting on the bathroom floor even though the litterbox is clean, and constantly getting into trouble... and even though sometimes i want to get rid of him, i do love him so.

This is Cash. I adopted him for my husband for our first valentines day. Cash is a good cat. Very chill and loving - an easy-going cat, but he doesn't give a shit about anybody but himself. He walks all over me and always manages to step right in my throat-hole or sticking his butthole in my face. Then he glares at me when i push him off. Potato is always attacking him and chasing him around the house and Cash usually cries like a little bitch, even though if he wanted to he could probably whoop his ass.

Adult Cats - The Underdogs

Kittens! Kittens! Everywhere! It's hard to deny it - kitten season is here - look around and there are kittens everywhere. The shelters are flooded, and with kittens coming out of every corner, there are faces that are left unseen. Adult cats and preteens that may have grown up without a family or are just past that "cute kitten" phase have been waiting patiently for their big break, only to be shoved out of the way by those fluffy little, irresistable, ridiculously cute kittens! With so many cats being left overlooked, these "underdogs" need somebody in their corner. Think about what it is you want in a cat, and look for a homeless cat that suits your lifestyle, whatever age they may be.

so much for daily blogging...

lol i guess i should be a little less ambitious. i'll be happy with a couple blogs a month.

in the meantime, i'll try to work on a theme, or voice i guess. i have re-thought my idea of this blog - although i'm still not quite sure what i'm doing with this. i work in animal welfare, and that's the route we're going. it can be horrible, but also very fun and entertaining. i hope to show both sides... jokes, stories, photos from my life and experiences.

at the same time, i want to provide a service and gain something from that... learn more about myself, and grow as a person. i want to use my creativity and of course, profiting from that would be just swell. i guess i'll work on it. in the meantime - this would be a good place for a photo. but i don't have one. damnit, i'm terrible at this.
